Lawyers are starting to Blog, finally! Lawyers are starting to Blog, finally!

The world of practicing law has started to embrace blogging. It has only been about a 5 year wait!
In early 2004, I was investigating different ways to market my practice and make it stand out among the numbers of other attorneys practicing in my field, elder law.
I decided that I needed to be on the web and I subscribed to a well known legal service that put a web site for me for $6000/year. They had 4 packages and mine was the second from the cheapest. I was thrilled until I discovered that I couldn't be found on the search engines.
Early in 2005 I heard a guy speak about the use of blogs and their ability to be a platform for easy communication of ideas but also that they were search engine friendly. I applied, on my own, what I had heard and within a few weeks my web site began to appear on search engine results. I later canceled my $6000 subscription service and have been enjoying the benefits of blogging for my practice.
An attorney friend of mine, Gavin Craig, unveiled his new blog about Twin Cities Business Litigation. It is worth a look even if you aren't involved in litigation because it is an excellent presentation.
Blogging is for Lawyers, at least those that want to communicate and market at the same time!
